At the request of the Regional Health Agency (ARS) of Pays de la Loire, a mosquito control operation once morest the tiger mosquito will take place at Saint-Sebastien-sur-Loirenear Nantes, on the night of Monday September 11 to Tuesday September 12, 2023, between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m.
The insecticide treatment (Aqua K-Othrine), which will be carried out in the Baugerie district, was organized following the return of a resident carrying a virus (chikungunya, dengue or Zika) transmissible by the tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus), dont the presence has been confirmed in the commune.
“This treatment will be carried out by targeted spraying using pedestrian means from public roads,” specifies the city of Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire in a press release. Preventive treatment, in order to reduce the risk of transmissionimplemented by the private company Rentokil and supervised by the Inovalys laboratory.
According to l’ARS, the machines used for this operation “generate a significant noise nuisance ».

What should you do to protect yourself?
To avoid any discomfort or irritation, the authorities (strongly) recommend several precautionary measures :
Do not expose yourself directly to the spray cloud and go home. Close doors and windows and keep them closed for one hour following the procedure. Turn off the ventilation. Remove or bring in animals (dogs, cats, etc.) as well as their bowls and protect
aquatic and cold-blooded animals. Cover ponds, swimming pools and sandboxes. Move or protect hives. Bring in the laundry. Bring in garden furniture, toys or cover them.
After a spraying operation, it is advisable to wait three hours before going into your garden, to rinse the garden furniture and children’s games left outside with water, then rinse the fruits and vegetables in your vegetable garden.
