Mumbai: Former Indian player Sunil Gavaskar said that the Indian cricket team does not need advice from outsiders. Gavaskar’s position is that cricket experts from abroad should not comment on the Indian team. “Many opinions will come from outside India. Media is giving importance to them. There are Australian players and Pakistani players who select the Indian team. “What are they so concerned regarding the Indian team?” Gavaskar asked.
“Does any Indian player choose Pakistan or Australia teams? It’s not our job. But we allow others to do it. Babar Azam is above Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for the Pakistanis. Shaheen Shah Afridi is also better than others. They will say Inzamam ul Haq is better than Sachin Tendulkar. They are better than us regarding them. That’s how their fans will be told.”- Gavaskar clarified.
“South Africans and Australians are saying who they want in the Indian team. They will say who should bat third and fourth. India doesn’t need any advice from you,” Gavaskar said. The BCCI announced the 15-member squad for the ODI Cricket World Cup on Tuesday.
In the team led by Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya is the vice-captain. Shreyas Iyer returns from injury, K.L. Rahul was included in the team. Malayalee player Sanju Samson and young player Tilak Verma were not included in the team. Spinner Yuzvendra Chehal also did not get a chance in the team.
