The expert in bacterial diseases, Professor Jacques Mukhbat, reassured that “there is no need to panic regarding the spread of the new Corona mutant.” He added, “We do not know if the mutant arrived in Lebanon, and we are conducting studies in the laboratories of the Lebanese-American University to confirm that, but the current wave of corona is expected in light of the occurrence of gatherings.”

Mukhbat stressed that there is no fear at the present time of serious infections with Corona, but we will monitor the situation with the beginning of the academic year, explaining that the current mutant is a cross between two types of “Omicron” that was present last year, and its symptoms are mild and do not differ from the previous mutants, namely: inflammation. In the upper respiratory tract, high fever, sore throat, and cough. And he warned that infection of the lungs poses a danger to people who have immunodeficiencies, pulmonary diseases, or the elderly.

Regarding taking additional doses of anti-Covid-19 vaccines, Mukhbat Alla explained that there are currently new guidelines in this regard, and he advised taking at least three doses of vaccines.
As for the body’s preservation of immunity following a period of vaccination, Mukhbat explained that the vaccine protects between six and eight months, according to studies, so it is recommended for people who took vaccinations more than a year ago to take booster doses.
