Expert in profiling has a clear theory about the mysterious behavior of the missing rapist

Although assault rapes, where the victim and the perpetrator do not know each other in advance, according to the crime prevention council, constitute a minority of the total number of rapes, it is one of the types of crime that is suitable for creating the absolute greatest insecurity – and the most publicity in the media .

Because when the circumstances play out, as they did in Aalborg a year ago, for example, where two women were assaulted in broad daylight with very short intervals, then there is a clear expectation in our legal society that the perpetrator must be found and brought to justice .

This is clearly seen in more than 300 inquiries that North Jutland Police have received from the public in the case.

But despite many observations of the suspected perpetrator, and despite the numerous recordings from surveillance cameras, which the police have, which show him moving around the streets of Aalborg – yes, even despite a full DNA profile, which the police have equated with several registers – so here we are, a year later, still on the bottom.

Who was he? Why did he do it – and where did he go?

Criminal psychologist Charlotte Kappel cannot give a clear answer to these questions, but with her extensive experience in perpetrator profiling, she can make us more aware of some of the factors that typically play a role in this type of crime – and this type of perpetrator.
