The excitement is at its height on the festival site. Thirty or so volunteers pitched in to finalize the final details for the rodeo evening.
“This is the first year that we are presenting the rodeo. In addition, he has an association that comes to see the competitors. There is a lot of nervousness in the air, but above all excitement for the riders and for the organization!” says Laury Mathieu, event director.
It is a festival with shows for amateurs on site but, for competitors, it is also a chance to be noticed and to be qualified for competitions of higher levels therefollowing. This is the case of Almaoise Julie Plourde, world barrel racing champion, who is trying to keep her title.
“In the past few years, I’ve had a meteoric rise. I want to continue to go even further. […] This weekend I will take my best horse to try to qualify for the world finals in January in Oklahoma.
