Experience the Thrill of Aqualibi’s Massive Expansion and Sustainable Innovations at Walibi!

A huge project is currently taking place in Walibi, in Wavre! The amusement park is building the extension of Aqualibi, the aquatic part of the famous amusement park. The old structure will be connected to a tower approaching 30 meters in height. It is practically from there, more than 20 meters high, that visitors will launch themselves (aboard a buoy) in one or other of the four enormous slides installed.

Another novelty: a huge photovoltaic installation to supply electricity to the site. A third-party investor, Engie-Electrabel, installed 5442 panels totaling a power of 3.6 MW, which makes it possible to produce more than 3400 MWh each year, the equivalent of the electricity needs of 1100 households! Most of the panels were installed on a carport, a few dozen meters from Aqualibi. 81% of electricity production will be consumed on site, the rest being injected into the network. Enough to avoid the emission of 1400 tons of CO2 per year! Further improvements are planned for insulation, ventilation, heating and water management. Walibi is thus continuing its trajectory towards “Net Zero Carbon”, by 2030.

In addition to this extension, next spring the site will open an outdoor relaxation and dining area, next to the current “Palm Beach” restaurant. Further work is planned, particularly in the reception area.

The Aqualibi extension project will cost 30 million euros. Opening scheduled for December 22.
