Vienna/Schwägalp Säntis (OTS) – Summer is just around the corner and the Säntis will soon be shedding its winter coat. The highest mountain in Eastern Switzerland breaks various weather records: This and much more exciting information regarding the Säntis can be discovered in an entertaining way at the summit in the interactive world of experience.
The Säntis offers many specials this summer: From sunrise trips, which take place every Sunday in July and August, to Sunday buffets, to culinary highlights such as new moon trips to the magic of the stars or full moon evenings with a buffet. A special highlight this summer is the 88th birthday of the suspension railway on July 31st. On this day, the suspension railway ride costs only half for all visitors. Since, as always, the world’s largest Swiss flag is unfurled on the mountain for the birthday and the Swiss National Day is celebrated on August 1st, the excursion to the Säntis is even more worthwhile!
Alpaufzug ab Mai
The Alpaufzug is still an important festival for the farmers today. The cattle are ceremonially driven up the alp by the herdsmen in traditional costumes. For 80 to 120 days, the home of the dairymen is the alpine hut. From then on the alpine cheese season begins and a strenuous life without much comfort. The alpine show dairy in Schwägalp at the foot of the Säntis opens its doors in May and gives an insight into cheese production. Enjoyment must not be neglected – from the tasting to the purchase of the famous Schwägalp Mutschlis or Schwägalp cheese.
