Usually, to attend a Summer League match, there is no need to rush to the ticket office or to have put a lot of money aside. Because if the summer league is nice, it is not necessarily the most prestigious competition there is, far from it. But we’ve known for a while now that everything is different when you put Victor Wembanyama into the equation.
A few days ago, we learned that Wemby’s very first game with the Spurs (against Brandon Miller’s Hornets this Friday) will be sold out at the Thomas & Mack Center (18,000 seats FYI). And today we learn that the average ticket price to see Victor’s big Las Vegas debut is $96which is simply a new record in the Summer League since this data began to be measured in 2015.

According to Joe Pompliano, a specialist in the sports business, the price goes up to 850 dollars for a place in the lower section (and it’s not even courtside huh) on StubHub, a platform for buying and reselling tickets on the Internet. This is three times more than for matches where Victor Wembanyama is not on the field. The Wemby effect, again and again.
You should know that in the Summer League, the purchase of a ticket gives you entry to all the matches of the day (eight this Friday). This average price of 96 dollars therefore does not only include the Spurs – Hornets match with Wembanyama on the track, but also the other matches of the day.
