Nvidia has announced that Portal: Prelude RTX is available on Steam, free of charge for Portal owners. Portal: Prelude is an unofficial mod for the prequel to Portal, released in 2008 with a challenging 8-10 hour campaign. The game received the highest ratings among all Portal game mods, and it came in third place for the best mod in 2008 by players’ choice. Portal: Prelude RTX is an enhanced version of the iconic Portal mod, developed using RTX Remix tools, full ray tracing, DLSS 3 technology, Nvidia Reflex technology, and RTX IO to give the ultimate Portal: Prelude experience to Nvidia RTX card owners. It is the first remaster to be developed entirely by the community and gamers using RTX Remix tools. Nvidia collaborated with Nicolas Grevet, known as “Nyk018”, the original developer of Portal: Prelude, to work on the improved version of Portal: Prelude RTX, as well as with the famous mod developer David Driver-Gomm, famous for “Kralich”. Portal: Prelude RTX is the latest game developed using RTX Remix, Nvidia’s free development tool, which will help develop ray tracing mods for classic games to improve the experience, including full ray tracing, Reflex technology, and DLSS 3 technology. Also released for PC is the game Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the highly anticipated action-adventure game from Insomniac Games. The game comes with many modern technologies, including real-time ray tracing, DLSS 3 technology, DLAA technology, Reflex technology, and finally RTX IO. The game joins a library of DLSS-enabled titles, such as Remnant II, NARAKA: BLADEPOINT, SYNCED, and Wuthering Waves. To support the Portal: Prelude RTX version, Nvidia has released an update for RTX cards to also support Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart along with other titles, to give the best possible performance when using RTX IO and DirectStorage technology in Windows when playing those games.
