A spectacular, icy white landscape, crossed at 36 km/h. Dozens of bridges and tunnels, majestic glaciers and magnificent lakes; we crisscross the Alps aboard the Bernina Express panoramic train. A powerful experience that more and more people want to experience. This is demonstrated by the exceptional results obtained in 2023 by the companies that manage mountain trains in the Rhaetian region.

The Bernina Express, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, and the Glacier Express, both owned by the Rhaetian Railway (RhB), welcomed some 50% more passengers than in 2019, which was a record year. As for the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGB) and Gornergrat Bahn (GB), owned by the BVZ group, which connect Zermatt to Andermatt – and which serve other regions known for their splendor; Disentis, Aletsch Arena… –, they respectively transported 7.72 million and 841,400 travelers during the first eleven months of 2023, i.e. 6.1% and 27% more than the same period in 2022.
