Fans can look forward to enjoying the lively atmosphere on LBJ Lawn, with live entertainment kicking off with a pregame show from the beloved local band More Cowbell at 8:30 a.m. Best of all, admission to Longhorn City Limits concerts is absolutely FREE throughout the entire season.
Across a remarkable career spanning over 40 years, Rick Springfield has showcased his multifaceted talents as a celebrated musician and performer. Renowned for crafting some of the most memorable power-pop anthems of the 1980s, this Grammy Award-winning artist has captivated audiences by selling more than 25 million albums. He has also achieved remarkable chart success with 17 U.S. Top 40 hits, including the timeless classics “Jessie’s Girl,” “Don’t Talk to Strangers,” “An Affair of the Heart,” “I’ve Done Everything for You,” “Love Somebody,” and “Human Touch.” Beyond his music, Springfield is an accomplished actor, having shared the screen with Meryl Streep in the film “Ricki and the Flash” and delivering a standout performance as the eerie Dr. Irving Pitlor in HBO’s critically acclaimed series “True Detective.” He has also earned accolades for his role as Lucifer in the CW’s hit series “Supernatural” and recently showcased his talent as the unpredictable Pastor Charles on FX’s popular show “American Horror Story.” An accomplished author, his candid memoir Late, Late at Night was hailed by Rolling Stone as one of the 25 greatest rock memoirs ever published. Prior to the Texas-Florida game, the award-winning mashup band More Cowbell will kick off Longhorn City Limits with a dynamic 90-minute performance, starting at 8:30 a.m. More Cowbell, composed of talented musicians Alon Bernstein, Minh Tran, Nick Wallisch, Matt Thomas, and Ronnie Hall, has quickly become one of Austin’s most beloved bands. They are revered for their high-energy performances that resonate with audiences, blending multiple songs into exciting mashups that entertain and engage fans. This unique approach has earned the band three Austin Music Awards, a testament to their artistry and connection with attendees.
Rick Springfield is set to light up the stage at approximately 2:30 p.m., following the highly anticipated clash between the Longhorns and the Gators.
