The room escape puzzle adventure game ‘Janghwa Hongryeon: Petals Of Memories’, produced by Krafton’s independent studio 5minlab, will start Tumblebuck funding from the 22nd.
Janghwa Hongryeon is a one-room escape game that reinterprets the traditional Korean traditional fairy tale Janghwa Hongryeonjeon in a modern way. The gamer becomes ‘Janghwa’ who has lost his memory and must escape the house by solving puzzles and rescuing his younger brother ‘Hongryun’. In addition to the villainous stepmother Heo and father, who are characters in the original fairy tale, pets not in the original work will also appear.
Janghwa Hongryeon is a point-and-click adventure game consisting of a total of 9 stages. It follows the typical genre grammar of using only the mouse for operation and enlarging the surrounding objects to find clues and collect items. If you solve the puzzle that exists in each room, you can move to the next room, and the story will be solved through the props and puzzles in the room.
The game art shows the overall atmosphere well. The drawing style of characters and surrounding objects emphasizes a fairy tale feeling in a cartoon style, and the character design reveals a dark story with restrained use of achromatic colors. The background music raises the sense of tension and immersion through piano playing in a dreary and lonely atmosphere.
