The parties before their time. Philippe Willem, mayor without label of Chaumont (Cher), has committed to paying “inflation aid” of 100 euros to each household in his village, report our colleagues from West France a you Berry Republican.

A welcome boost in times of inflation. The elected official had the idea following several residents of his town, located around forty kilometers from Bourges, complained regarding an excessive increase in their fuel budget. Many of them go there daily for work.

“Some were once morest this proposal”

To benefit from this aid, the forty-eight residents, divided into twenty-four households, simply have to submit their RIB to the Chaumont town hall. The tax services will then make a transfer of 100 euros within the following hours. “Town halls cannot write checks,” the elected official explained to our colleagues in Ouest-France.

As surprising as it may seem, this project was not unanimously accepted within the village. At the end of October 2023, Philippe Willem brought together the municipal council to vote on a deliberation on this aid. Result: four votes in favor, two abstentions and one person absent.

“Some were once morest this proposal because they were once morest the principle of social assistance,” he explains. This exceptional aid should not be renewed in December 2024.
