MIAMI.- A man from Florida who participated in the assault on Capitol On January 6, 2021, he was found guilty and faces a sentence of more than two decades in prison, accused of a video that he himself posted on Facebook.
According to a District of Columbia judge, Bradley Weeks, 44, from Macclenny, North Florida, is guilty of one felony obstruction of official proceeding and four misdemeanors – entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly conduct and disruptive in a restricted building, participating in a demonstration or picketing a Capitol building-.
Evidence shows that Weeks recorded a video of the crowd entering the Capitol. Arriving at the Upper West Terrace of the Capitol, he recorded himself trespassing. “We have reached the steps. We had to climb the scaffolding. We had to climb the stairs. We had to break things to get through. We are passing, to take back the Capitol. We are taking back our country! This is our 1776! -The year of the American Revolution- This is when tyranny will fall! This is where the US will rise!
According to authorities, the break-in at the Capitol was an attempt to prevent Congress from certifying the electoral votes that gave Joe Biden victory over Donald Trump in the presidential election.
The trial before US District Judge Thomas F. Hogan concluded on Friday, December 9. The sentence will be scheduled at a later date.
Several people alerted the FBI to the video Weeks had posted on his Facebook page.
Since the 2021 riots, some 900 people have been arrested in almost every state in the country. More than 275 were accused of assaulting or hindering compliance with the law. Several investigations are still open.
