Yahiya Mohammad (Yahiya-35), the main accused in the murder case of an expatriate, has been arrested from Marukara house, Keezhatoor Akkaparambu, Karyamad. Abdul Jaleeli, 42, a native of Attappady, Saudi Arabia, was arrested in connection with the abduction and beating of a man at the Nedumbassery airport. Yahya was apprehended by a special investigation team on Monday night from a secret center in Akkaparambil.

The incident took place on the 15th. The abduction was the result of the loss of 1.200 kilograms of gold, allegedly belonging to Jaleel’s accomplices of Yahya’s gold smugglers in Saudi Arabia. Jaleel was abducted from Nedumbassery and first taken to an unoccupied house on Perinthalmanna Jubilee Road where he was beaten. He was later taken to the Akkaparambu ground, rubber plantation and Manathumangalam secret center and brutally beaten. Manikandan, Rafeeq Mohammad Mustafa, Anas Babu, Mohammad Abdul Ali and Altaf, who were arrested on Saturday in the case, were directly involved with Yahya. It is learned that two accused from Kondotty had entered the Gulf.

Jaleel was rushed to Perinthalmanna Hospital on the morning of the 15th by Yahya, who said he had fallen on the roadside in Akkaparambil. Police said more information would be available once Jalil’s phone and luggage were found and all those who helped the accused would be arrested.

Yahiya was nabbed by a team led by District Police Chief S Sujith Das and comprising Perinthalmanna DySP M Santosh Kumar and Melattur CI Sharon.
