Expansion of cycle paths in Vienna enables routes from the city to the city limits – Vienna

The cycling infrastructure in Vienna needs to be significantly improved if the city wants to achieve climate goals as planned and reduce the proportion of car traffic in the city. On Wednesday, the red-pink city government presented the expansion program for 2023: It includes the start of 50 small and slightly larger projects. Traffic Councilor Ulli Sima (SPÖ) and Angelika Pipal-Leixner, the mobility spokeswoman for Neos, described a continuous cycle route from the Kärntner Ring in the city center southwards to Lower Austria as a highlight. This is achieved by closing the gaps with cycle paths in the city Argentinierstraße as well as the Herndlgasse done. This project operates in the transport department under “Radhighway Süd”.
