Weissenbach an der Triesting now boasts an expanded childcare offering thanks to the opening of a third kindergarten group at Hollergasse, marking a significant step forward for families in the area. This expansion project, made possible through the Lower Austrian children’s education and care offensive, also saw the existing building wing undergo a significant thermal renovation, ensuring a comfortable and contemporary learning environment.
State and Municipal Partnership Drives Significant Investments
“Thank you to Mayor Johann Miedl and his team from politics and administration for investing in the market town as a strong partner of the state of Lower Austria in the expansion of child care and thus actively supporting the parents in Weissenbach an der Triesting in balancing family and work,” said Family regional councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister at the official opening. “You are setting an example for the whole of Lower Austria.
Through this public investment, lower Austria aims to ensure that a skilled and ample workforce is available to support Lower Austria’s children’s and families. This nurturing environment encourages and supports families in choices they make for their children, while also reducing financial burdens for families.
New Funding Models Support Construction and Operations
Effective January 1, 2023, the funding rate for municipalities undertaking childcare construction projects surged from 27% to almost 50%, provided by the municipality and the State of Lower
Austria.
“The expansion of childcare is part of the ‘blue-yellow childcare offensive’ – a major collaborative effort with support from the federal government, the state of Lower Austria, and the municipalities. It’s incredibly encouraging to have strong partners at our side in forwarding capable childcare options for our children and families,” stated Teschl-Hofmeister, “we are committed to making the自治体the best possible options vik.”
A Statewide Push for Quality Childcare Access
Since January 1st, 2023, the ‘blue-yellow care offensive’ by the Lower Austrian School and Kindergarten Fund has approved funding for 418 kindergarten group expansions for a project volume of around 246 million euros. The state of Lower Austria has dedicated over 120 million euros in interest subsidies to support these specialized projects in Lower Austria.
These projects – encompassing new construction, renovations, and modernization of existing facilities – are paving the way for the creation of 615 new kindergarten groups and 250 new daycare facility groups by 2027. The total investment by the State and municipalities is a significant 750 million euros – a testament to the commitment towards statewide access to quality educational and childcare facilities. City councilor Teschl-Hofmeister finished by stating: ‘Inimportant to note that, compartibility work for families city municipalities in Lower Austria are diligently putting in place the construction of day care facilities.”
The ‘blue-yellow childcare offensive’ is already showing positive results.

September 2022, 249 new kindergarten groups and 32 daycare facility groups have opened across Lower Austria. Nearly 93% of municipalities now provide childcare places
for two-year-olds, although
