Expanding Opportunities: OFPPT Opens New Cities of Trades and Skills for Vocational Training in 2023-2024

The Office for Vocational Training and Labor Promotion (OFPPT) is starting an active start to the school year with the opening of three new Cities of Trades and Skills (CMC) which will welcome their first promotions. For the 2023-2024 school year, a total of 205 new courses will be offered, accompanied by Career Guidance Centers to offer better support to young people. Details.

No less than 410,000 educational places will be available this year in vocational training establishments under the Office of Vocational Training and Labor Promotion (OFPPT) to accommodate young people in training, including 262,000 educational places reserved for 1st year trainees. year.

Opening of 13 new establishments
The 2023-2024 school year promises a strengthening of the training system with the opening of 13 new establishments, in six regions and covering different sectors. This year was distinguished by a significant increase in application rates for the different levels of training. In fact, this rate reached 435% at the national level, or more than 4 requests for 1 teaching place, with more than 7 requests/place for the Specialized Technician level.

The Office reports that the highest requests were recorded for new establishments in the Health sector, reaching up to 130 applications for an educational place. In other institutes specializing in the professions of Digital & AI, Hospitality-Tourism and Management & Commerce, applications reached 70 for an educational place. Likewise, the training offer is significantly renewed, with 74% of the courses offered corresponding to newly created or restructured courses, which will benefit 68% of learners.

Programmes d’excellence
This year, the deployment of the two excellence programs VET By EHL and PIE will be extended to new territories to allow access to more young people across the Kingdom. In detail, the Entrepreneurial Innovation Program (PIE), developed jointly with the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and aimed at strengthening their entrepreneurial mindset and equipping them with the required entrepreneurial skills, will be implemented at the level of the Casablanca Region. -Settat, in addition to the six regions covered the last two years.

As for VET by EHL training relating to the Tourism sector and following the great success recorded during their experimentation from 2021-2022 within the institutes specializing in the Tourism professions of Hank/Casablanca and Guich Loudaya/Rabat, they will be deployed at the level of the Cities of Trades and Skills in the Souss-Massa, Oriental, Rabat-Salé-Kénitra and Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima regions, in addition to the ISTHT Dakhla. The OFPPT will also maintain the “Cross-border electronic commerce” program, launched in 2021 at ISTA Hay Hassani in Casablanca, in partnership with the Tianjin college of commerce, and will start training sessions in Mandarin this year, to respond to the strong interest shown by young people on the one hand, and to diversify its linguistic offering, on the other hand.

Strengthened support
A new inclusive, connected, personalized and integrated orientation system will be deployed. This is mainly focused around close support in order to meet the expectations of the young person, from the prospect phase, through the candidate and the intern to the laureate stage. With this in mind, a new digital orientation platform “MY WAY” has been set up to allow young people to choose training and a career path in harmony with their interests.

In addition, the OFPPT will set up, for this year, 42 professional guidance centers nationally, which will ensure personalized support for candidates, interns and graduates in terms of information, guidance, support for the construction and realization of their professional projects in addition to integration assistance activities. That’s not all. In addition to the Professional Orientation Centers, a first batch of establishments under the OFPPT will be equipped with common structures dedicated to interns (co-working spaces, media libraries, incubators, etc.), aiming for better inclusion of interns within their learning environment and the development of their spirit of initiative and creativity.

Two new establishments in Kenitra

It should be noted that the start of the school year was marked by the official launch of two new professional training institutes in Kenitra, namely the Institute specializing in road transport and logistics professions and the Institute specializing in industry agri-food industry in Kenitra. Spread over an area of ​​19,278 m², the establishment offers a total capacity of 800 educational places. It will allow socio-economic integration for future trainees – especially since the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Region includes more than 8,000 companies specializing in road transport of goods -, thus supporting the deployment of the National Road Safety Strategy 2017-2026. Furthermore, the Tamesna CMC annex can accommodate up to 200 trainees for diploma and qualification training in diversified sectors such as food technology and agro-industry as well as quality, hygiene, safety and the environment.
