Expanding Memory Chip Factories: Micron Technology’s Plans & Funding Requests Under CHIPS Act

Aug 21 (Archyde.com) – Micron Technology MU.O said on Monday federal funds and investment tax credits would be needed to expand its memory chip factories in Boise, Idaho, and Clay. , in New York State.

The memory chip maker said it has submitted funding requests to the U.S. Department of Commerce under the CHIPS Act, which aims to spur efforts to diversify supply chains to reduce dependence on China.

Last year, President Joe Biden signed a landmark bill in August providing $52.7 billion in subsidies for semiconductor production and research in the United States.
