Korean horror film Exhuma managed to surpass 10 million viewers on Sunday (24/3). Exhuma is the first film released in 2024 to reach that figure.

According to distributor Showbox, the horror film reached 10 million viewers on Sunday morning, the 32nd day since its release. Directed by Jang Jae-hyun, Exhuma has never dropped from number 1 at the box office since hitting theaters on February 22 in Korea.

It is the first film to sell more than 10 million tickets since 12.12: The Day (2023), which reached the milestone on Christmas Eve last year. Exhuma is also the 23rd Korean film to reach more than 10 million viewers in Korea and the 32nd film overall.

Meanwhile, in Indonesia, Exhuma has also become the best-selling Korean film, reaching 2 million viewers. Previously, the best-selling Korean film in Indonesia was Parasite with around 700 thousand viewers.

Starring Choi Min-sik and Kim Go-eun, Exhuma tells the story of two shamans, a feng shui expert and a death expert who join forces to investigate a series of mysterious events that befell a wealthy family based in the United States. They begin this journey by excavating the family’s ancestral grave in a remote village in Korea.

The film had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival last month.
