Exhibition of World Calligraphy Competition winning artworks in Faisalabad

Faisalabad Arts Council organized an international exhibition of calligraphy under the title ‘Loh wa Qalam’ last day (Monday).

The exhibition was held in collaboration with the International Calligraphy Association (ARSICA), Pakistan Calligraphy Artists Guild and Calligraphers Association of Pakistan, in which the winners of the World Calligraphy Exhibition held in Turkey last month from Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia and Iran. Along with the calligraphers, the artworks of the famous calligraphers of Pakistan were also presented.

Prize-winning works of foreign calligraphers presented in this exhibition of calligraphy include Dawood Bektash of Turkey, Habib Ramadanpour, M. Hasan, Muhammad Fateh bin Rozli, Usman Chichak, Ahmed Rizq Awadullah of Egypt, Muhammad Jaber Al-Sayed Abu. Al-Ala, Shireen Abd al-Sabir Abd Ahalim, Kamal Al-Bahri of Tunisia and Javad Khoran of Iran were included.

Among the calligraphers of Pakistan are Irfan Qureshi, Mohammad Jameel Hassan Nafeesi, Khalid Mahmood Siddique, Abdul Rehman Abdo, Shaukat Ali Minhas, Hafiz Anjum Mehmood, Mohammad Ajmal Baig, Nisar Ahmed, Mohsin, Fariha, Saeed Nadrat, Zubair Mughal, Rana Ghazanfar Ali, Saima. Artworks by Noor, Aslam Dogar, Muhammad Yahya, Muhammad Arif, Zameer Ahmed, Ejaz Yousufi, Muhammad Younis and Gulzar Ahmed Butt were also part of the exhibition.

On this occasion, Director of Faisalabad Arts Council, Zahid Iqbal, while talking to Independent Urdu, said that for this exhibition, the artworks of the artists who won in the international exhibition of calligraphy in Turkey have been specially requested so that The calligraphers who are working on calligraphy in Faisalabad Division can see the work done abroad.’

He said that it contains the manuscripts of more than 10 international calligraphers. There are artworks of five national calligraphers and we have added about 15 artworks from Faisalabad division.

He said that a lot of work is being done on classical calligraphy in many countries of the world and this work is being done mostly with a pen.

Zahid Iqbal said: ‘What is more popular with us is modern calligraphy. The purpose of presenting this work is to see if we have modern calligraphy, how can we incorporate the classic touch which is our foundation.’

He said that he wanted to talk about ‘classical and modern calligraphy’ and for this purpose a workshop has been arranged on the second day of the calligraphy exhibition so that calligraphy lovers and new students can learn more about it. to watch various presentations as well as get a chance to listen to the conversation in this regard.

Speaking to Independent Urdu, local calligrapher Nisar Ahmed, who participated in the world exhibition of calligraphy in Turkey, said that the world’s largest calligraphy competition is organized by the International Calligraphy Association (Arsica) every three years. is done.’

He said that ‘Khat Thult is considered to be the biggest letter in the world, so there is the biggest competition in the world. After that, there are contests for writing Naskh and then Raqa’, Khat Diwani, Khat Jali Diwani, Khat Nastaliq and Khat Rehan etc.’

He said that to participate in this competition, calligraphers from all over the world are given the same size on the same page and they have to show their art accordingly.

He further said that ‘this competition is held with the pen because it is easy to send it by rolling or anyway from all over the world and the letter of the pen is called Qat or Khat.’

According to Nisar Ahmad, the calligraphy that is done in the medium other than the pen can be called craft, but it is not included in this world competition as calligraphy.

Appreciating the Faisalabad Arts Council’s organization of the exhibition of calligraphers who won the international calligraphy competition, Nisar Ahmed said, “This initiative is very important in promoting the art of calligraphy.”

He said that ‘all the calligraphers, artists and people of taste in Faisalabad and its surroundings will get an opportunity to learn a lot from this exhibition.’
