The gluteus and abdomen are areas that we usually focus on during our workouts. Plank, squat, deadlift… They are the classics that we all resort to to strengthen these parts of our body.
In this video, our personal trainer Víctor Téllez (@vtellezcoach) shows us a exercise with dumbbell or kettlebell to train both our abdomen and our buttocks. Specifically, it is a deadlift to an arm contralateral to the leg that we are going to work on.
Thus, we must place the right arm down and the left leg forward. The other foot, on the other hand, is located behind. With a straight back and chest out, we slightly rotate the trunk. Next, we raise the arm with the dumbbell and move the foot placed behind forward. We pass the dumbbell from one hand to the other and repeat.
Téllez explains different levels of intensity of this same exercise and ensures that “the abdomen works because it is stopping the anti-rotation and, in addition, it joins the gesture of hip extension where the gluteus is working.”
