Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court issued the order after hearing a complaint filed by a judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court in Sargodha against alleged harassment for refusing to meet intelligence agency officials. .

The June 27 order has asked judges of Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATCs) in Punjab to install call recording applications on their mobile phones.

According to the order: ‘(Judges) shall be bound to record all such calls, which they receive and which the Judges fear may be made to influence any judicial proceedings before them. have gone.’

The order also directed the judges of ATCs of Punjab to dispose of the cases related to May 9, 2023 expeditiously and on priority basis.

Justice Shahid Karim added in his order that ‘all investigative proceedings should be video recorded which will be maintained by the police and sent to this court through the registrar.’

In the order, the judge noted that it was “necessary” to proceed on certain matters which “regularly come before this court” and about which “directions are necessary.”

It added that measures regarding the security of ATCs across Punjab would be taken only “with the consultation and consent of a learned judge of this court and not otherwise.”

The order warned that the Inspector General and the Chief of Police would be ‘personally liable and contempt proceedings would be instituted in case of violation of the order.’
