Exciting video: a dog saves its owner by handing her her medicines and calming her down

Service dogs are great helpers for people with disabilities. And today social networks are in charge of making visible the unconditional help that these pets provide to their owners.

In the last hours a really exciting video went viral. Katie Graham, a young woman from Atlanta, shared a recording of the last time she suffered a seizure and her assistance dog, Bailey, came to her rescue. She suffers from Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and her pet assists her whenever she needs it.

It is not the first time that the woman uploads a video of this type. In fact, on her TikTok account @serviceaussiebailey she shares what it’s like to live with an assistance animal. But the latter, in particular, got a lot of buzz for the dog’s exciting behavior.

In the recording you can see how the dog notices that something was regarding to happen to its owner and jumps on top of her to make her sit on the floor.

Then, the dog hands her a blanket to cover her and goes to the refrigerator and opens it thanks to the fact that the door handle is prepared for this type of situation.

Bailey takes a bottle of water between her teeth and hands it to its owner. He goes to the fridge and takes the pills to the young woman. Finally, he manages to calm her down and prevent the tachycardia attack from happening.

A four legged hero

The young woman explained what syndrome she suffers from and how Bailey manages to detect it. “I suffer from a variety of medical conditions, one of which is postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. Bailey alerts me to my increasing heart rate before a blackout episode. This allows me plenty of time to sit up and get into a safe position in case I lose consciousness. Bailey will do what is called deep pressure therapy to help slow my heart rate and stimulate blood flow,” she detailed.

“This helps me stay awake. Bailey is capable of picking up medicine, water, my phone, blankets, snacks, really anything you ask her to get. She seems like she just knows it,” Katie noted.

The American will never be able to finish thanking Bailey for her support. “People are amazed at how Bailey can feel an episode and her determination to help me feel better. Bailey is my rock. He is always there for me and I can count on him in my lowest moments,” Graham said.
