The ODI World Cup, which will be hosted by India, is near. Just a few more days to wait. The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday announced the prize money for the World Cup, which will begin on October 5.

ICC will give a total prize money of Rs 82.93 crore. Of this, only the champions will get Rs 33.16 crore. The prize money for the runners-up is Rs 16.58 crore. Ten teams are participating. Each team has separate prize money even for winning the group matches.

Teams will get Rs 33.17 lakh for each win in the group stage, the ICC said in a press release. The teams that fail to qualify for the knockout round and get eliminated will get Rs 82.93 each. Apart from this, individual awards and prize money are also given to them.

The World Cup will kick off with a match between defending champions England and New Zealand on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The final will be held at the same stadium on November 19. India wants nothing less than the title in this year’s World Cup at home.

Indian fans are hoping that Rohit Sharma and his team will lift the third world title. India’s first match is against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
