Exciting Training Updates for September 2024 from the Town Hall Press Office

25 young trainees are starting their training with the city of Dorsten. Mayor Tobias Stockhoff welcomes them at the meeting point in the old town.

Since August 1st and September 1st, 25 young colleagues have also held “key positions” in the city of Dorsten – because they began their training in various positions in the city administration.

The trainees once again gained their first insights during the induction days. The aim of these four days was for the young employees to get to know each other better. The youth and trainee representatives of the city of Dorsten (JAV) have once again put together a varied program this year in coordination with the training management.

On the first day, a communal breakfast was planned, followed by various games to get to know each other, such as “Beat the Trainee,” in which the trainees competed against each other in various game formats. The following day, a bicycle rally was organized, during which the trainees, together with members of the JAV, visited branches of the city of Dorsten, such as the waste disposal company or the fire and rescue station, and learned about the tasks and activities there. On the third day, a health day was organized for the trainees in Atlantis together with the company’s health management, which included sporting activities and lectures on nutrition. The new trainees also had a lot of fun on a scavenger hunt through the city center and at a trainee barbecue.

In addition to the staff council, the trade unions, the equal opportunities office and the representative of severely handicapped persons also use the opportunity to introduce themselves and their work.

Mayor Tobias Stockhoff was once again keen to personally welcome the young talent and wish them every success in their upcoming tasks. “I am delighted that you have chosen to train with the city of Dorsten and thus take on a truly key position. As a city administration, we are not only an attractive employer, but we also organize and shape this city and the coexistence of the people who call Dorsten home.”

André Sänger, the chairman of the staff council, also stopped by the Altstadt meeting point to talk to the young employees. His first impression was very positive. “It is important that the trainees feel comfortable with us and get to know the diverse opportunities and perspectives that the city administration offers. We are also available to our young employees at any time – this is also demonstrated by our strong youth and trainee representation.”

The young people learn, among other things, the following professions: specialist for media and information services, architectural draftsman, city inspector – administrative IT, city inspector Bachelor of Laws, child care worker, IT specialist, administrative assistant, gardener, street worker, educator, fire brigade candidate and emergency paramedic.
