The Region 4-7A playoff standings will be affected this week when Parkview travels to Sharp Stadium in Covington to play No. 6 Newton on GPB’s Football Fridays in Georgia broadcast.
Newton (7-0, 2-0) leads the region, with Parkview (5-2, 1-1) tied for third place. A Newton victory would move the Rams closer to winning their first region championship since 2015.
Both teams have first-year head coaches – Parkview’s Joe Sturdivant and Newton’s Josh Skelton.
Parkview was upset 28-27 by Archer on Friday when quarterback William Wallace scored on a keeper in the final minute. The decision was sealed when Archer recovered a Parkview fumble moments later. Newton defeated Brookwood 44-17.
Newton beat Parkview 20-18 in 2022 and claimed the No. 3 playoff seed. The all-time series is tied 7-7.
