Long live the English weather at the end of July. For the latter e-price of the season, the very British rain decided to invite itself to the party, forcing the organizers to postpone the race for… more than an hour, to clear the wet track and wait for things to calm down.
At 7:30 p.m., Belgian time, this 2nd London E-Prix of the weekend was (finally) able to start in very particular conditions, the ambient humidity giving the layout the appearance of a giant ice rink.
Resultant, Nick Cassidywho started on pole, was hardly bothered by his direct pursuers, Mitch Evans and the recent world champion, Jake Dennis. Behind, Stoffel Vandoorne, 5th on the starting grid, despite placing his two modes offensive very early in the race, he was unable to grab a place, remaining at a reasonable distance from the Top 4.
Once is not custom therefore (and that is probably explained in view of the conditions), this race was not the most spectacular, almost no overtaking occurring in the last laps. Do you want one last proof of the atypical side of this last E-Prix of the season? The 22 drivers were able to reach the finish, which is rather rare in Formula E.
At the finish, no change in the Top 5 compared to the starting grid: Cassidy won the last E-Prix of the season ahead of Evans and Dennis. Author of a difficult season following his title of world champion last year, manhandled by a capricious car, Vandoorne ends his exercise with a Top 5. What to put a little balm to his heart?
