The relegation battle in the Admiral 2nd league remains extremely exciting!

Rapid II and FC Liefering split 0-0 on the 27th matchday and thus a draw, which neither of the two teams threatened with relegation will help.

Latte prevents rapid leadership

In the duel between the two struggling second Bundesliga teams, the Salzburg guests clearly set the tone. The “Young Bulls” keep creating good opportunities, of which Elias Havel misses the best chance once morest SCR keeper Laurenz Orgler (23rd).

Only towards the end of the first round do the young people from Hütteldorf dare to come out on the defensive – and immediately become extremely dangerous. First, Fabian Eggenfellner heads a Wydra free-kick onto the crossbar (38′), shortly followingwards Dragoljub Savic fails to find the ball following a Wydra corner from a few yards out (39′).

Immediately following the change of sides, Savic found the next big chance, but once more the Serb mightn’t put enough pressure behind his shot from close range.

Reischl gate is disallowed

Only then did the Lieferingers, who lost numerous regular players due to Salzburg’s injury misery, find their way back into the game, but failed once more when evaluating their own chances: Douglas Mendes hammered the ball following a corner only to the side netting (66th), Moussa Yeo failed with a shot on the brilliant parrying Orgler (72′).

Shortly before the end, Liefering’s attacking efforts were supposedly rewarded following Luka Reischl acrobatically placed the ball on his chest, but the goal was taken back because the striker allegedly played with his hands.

So it remains a draw, with which neither team can really live well. Liefering remains eleventh with one point more than Rapid II, Hütteldorfer are twelfth, both are only a hair’s breadth away from the relegation zone in terms of points.
