The occupancy rate for the month of July “is around 74% for the whole of metropolitan territory in the hotel industry, a rate almost identical to 2022”despite hot weather and recent urban riots that erupted in cities following a 17-year-old was killed by a police officer, according to the ministry.

But the regions of northern France record “occupancy rates up compared to 2022 while some regions in the south of France are experiencing a slight decline”said the ministry in a joint press release with Atout France and ADN Tourisme.

This geographical distribution marks a difference compared to 2022, it is specified.

Foreign tourists are there in July with in particular an increase of 11.4% for Spaniards and 20.6% for Canadians, and for Paris “the gradual return, in particular of the Japanese and the Chinese”according to the same source.

“The rest of the season promises to be just as radiant, with the Rugby World Cup in particular”assured Olivia Grégoire, the Minister Delegate for Tourism, quoted by the press release.
