In 2022, Bendix contributed $1 million in grants, sponsorships and donations to community initiatives, while its employees dedicated 9,000 volunteer hours to a wide variety of projects.
Volunteering at the company that manufactures active safety and air brake control technologies for commercial vehicles adheres to a corporate responsibility philosophy that focuses on social unity, low-income youth and families in their communities.
This support prioritizes projects related to education, the environment, health and well-being, and social problems.
“The support we offered our communities in 2022 was exceptional, with participation numbers up to 10% higher than last year,” said Maria Gutierrez, executive director of environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives at Bendix.
The donations were shoes, toys, food, school supplies and clothing. In addition, blood, as well as the making of blankets and the construction of houses and bunk beds.
In addition to his local relief efforts, Bendix also supported the corporate mission of Knorr-Bremse Global Care North America Inc, the North American philanthropic organization of its parent company.
Two important facets of Bendix’s support efforts came from the teams Local Care y Get Involved!run by company employees, who identify large and small community initiatives to sponsor at each location.
Exceptional Bendix Support of Community Initiatives
Local Care teams contributed $216,500 in donations and sponsorships to a variety of organizations and initiatives in the communities near the Bendix facility in Acuña, Mexico; Avon, Ohio; Bowling Green, Kentucky; Hanover, Pennsylvania, the home of the Bendix subsidiary, RH Sheppard Co. Inc.; and Huntington, Ind.
The teams also facilitated volunteer opportunities at each Bendix location, helping to coordinate a total of 8,822 volunteer hours logged during 2022, an increase of nearly 9% over 2021.
Participation was exceptional at all locations, including the Avon headquarters, where 25% of employees dedicated volunteer hours to one or more initiatives.
On the other hand, the Get Involved! de Bendix awarded $133,159 to the Mexican Red Cross near Acuña, the organization Caridad Misionera AC in Monterrey, Mexico, and the General Ignacio Zaragoza Elementary School in Acuña.
Overall, the company’s philosophy of giving back to its communities continued to engage employees throughout 2022.
“Without a doubt, our community support efforts are taking root in our culture,” Gutierrez said.
