Exceeded €307 million in tax revenue in January 2024-02-28 09:36:05

In particular, based on the final Budget execution data, the revenues of the “Taxes” category amounted to 5,561 million euros, increased by 369 million euros or 7.1% compared to the target included in the introductory report of the 2024 Budget. If subtracting from the increase in revenues the tax refunds increased by 62 million euros, the net excess of tax revenues is 307 million euros. This overperformance comes mainly from the better performance of the income taxes of natural and legal persons of the previous year which are collected in installments until the end of February 2024, as well as from the best performance in the collection of the current year’s taxes (VAT, VAT, etc.).

The analysis based on the main tax categories shows that the main part of the excess comes from direct tax collections. Specifically :

  • Income tax revenues amounted to 1,896 million euros and are up once morest the target by 256 million euros.
  • VAT revenues amounted to 2,423 million euros and are increased once morest the target by 29 million euros.
  • The revenues of the EFCs amounted to 528 million euros and are increased once morest the target by 33 million euros.
  • Real estate tax revenues amounted to 113 million euros and are short of the target by 5 million euros.

The expenses of the State Budget for the period of January 2024 amounted to 5,625 million euros and are presented reduced by 182 million euros compared to the target (5,806 million euros), which has been included in the introductory report of the 2024 Budget.
