Last night, during the broadcast of “Exatlón”, we witnessed the serious fall that one of its contestants had, the former soccer player Pato Araujo, who following a fall was treated by the program’s paramedics and, a few hours following the accident, the specialist who is treating him assures that these are crucial moments to determine the athlete’s state of health, since the blow he received caused head trauma and the loss of a lot of blood.
A few minutes before 1:00 p.m., “Come Joy” contacted Dr. Arturo Ruíz Coronel, who is treating Araujo, following the accident he suffered in one of the circuits of the sports competition, because even though Yesterday some images were shown of how the events happened, it was not clear what exactly had happened to the Jalisco midfielder who, before becoming one of the most prolific contestants of the “Exatlón”, played for Chivas.

From the Dominican Republic, where the program is recorded, the expert expressed that Pato’s prognosis is reserved, because it was a serious blow that caused head trauma and hemorrhage that caused him to lose a lot of blood.
“It is a fairly considerable wound, a head trauma, with a cutting wound to the scalp. It was a considerable, large wound, with significant bleeding, approximately 300 milliliters of blood was lost,” he explained.
Despite his delicate condition, Ruíz Coronel indicated that he, together with the team of paramedics, were able to stabilize Pato still in the playing area, where he was treated with basic care and later transferred to the emergency room.
“Primary care was given, stabilization, prudent studies were carried out to determine if we can put him in the operating room and repair the wound; a very large wound.”
The doctor who indicated that to close the wound, they had to use surgical staples, which would reflect the complexity of the procedure, however, highlighted that Araujo has always been one of the strongest athletes in the competition, so they hope to that his evolution is satisfactory, although he also stressed that he does not want to get ahead of events, because in situations like this, every hour is crucial.
“It is too early to determine if we are free of any other alteration, for the moment, we have a reserved prognosis, with the monitoring of the skull, that he has not had a fracture, like his brain, that he has no inflammation, that he does not presents a change in behavior; he has always been alert, awake, conscious, however the hours that follow are very important to be able to determine if there is damage or not, to rule out an infection or brain injury,” he explained.

While Araujo remains under observation, and under treatment with antibiotics and painkillers, Dr. Arturo said that the athlete has shown concern regarding what happened to him, above all, because he is aware that he has a family waiting for him at home; Let us remember that, recently, he and his wife Zudikey Rodríguez welcomed their first child together; Lian Carlo.
“It’s scary, it was an injury that left him, not a little, quite scared, he’s just become a dad, he’s very sad because he doesn’t know if he’s going to be okay, if he’s going to have an alteration, if his son is going to see him well.” “He asks a lot regarding the family, in case he is going to have a sequel or a scar, but as far as possible, he is a very strong patient, let’s hope so, that he has a good evolution,” he expressed.
Finally, he clarified that, at the moment, they cannot establish whether the athlete will return to the contest or will have to abandon it.
“We have to wait for the evolution, we have to hope that there is no superinfection in the wound and check that the brain does not have an alteration, in this case inflammatory, so it is too early to be able to say if it will continue or not. “These are very crucial hours, very important for us; fortunately things are going well, but it is too early to know,” he highlighted.
