For his part, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Minya, Dr. Mohamed Nadi, announced that 2,200 pregnant women were provided with health services during the month of January, as part of the presidential initiative for maternal and fetal health, noting that 79,498 pregnant women had been examined since the beginning of the initiative in all centers. Dr. Ahmed Khalil, Director of the Basic Care Department, and Coordinator of Presidential Initiatives in Minya Governorate, indicated that the initiative aims to examine pregnant women from the first day of pregnancy until birth, with the aim of early detection of many diseases, the most important of which are hepatitis B virus, syphilis, HIV. Human Immunology, in addition to blood pressure testing, physical measurements of weight, height, and blood sugar levels; To prevent the transmission of diseases from mother to fetus.
He added that the initiative is taking place in 260 health units and medical centers, in all health departments at the Minya governorate level, through trained medical teams, while taking all necessary preventive and precautionary measures, and following infection control methods.
