Police chased a couple on Thursday morning, resulting in the death of one of the occupants. The man, who was a drug user and an alcoholic, tried to escape but was shot by the police. The man was identified as Imed, 42, and came from Seneffe. He had children aged 4 and 12 and owned multiple apartments. His ex-girlfriend, Marylène, was devastated by his death and expressed her confusion as to why he was shot as he was not carrying a weapon. She stated that he was not a bad man and had a kind heart, which was evident from his acts of kindness towards his neighbors. Marylène did not have much information regarding the circumstances leading up to the tragedy but was eager to understand what happened. At the time of writing, there was no communication from the prosecution regarding the incident. The lady who was in the vehicle with the victim was not injured.

This Thursday morning, a chase between the police and a couple ended badly for one of the two occupants of the pursued vehicle. The police had no choice but to shoot a man as he tried to escape the police who were following him.

We do not know the exact circumstances in which the drama took place or what were the reasons for the police to pursue the vehicle but, a priori, the man had been a drug user for a long time and for a year, he had also fallen in alcohol. A descent into hell that had precipitated the separation with Marylène, his ex-girlfriend. “We did everything to help him“, told us the Louviéroise who was, obviously, upset by the drama. “He was not a bad man, quite the contrary. He was a contractor and had his own scaffolding company. He had his heart on his sleeve and never hesitated to help his neighbor, by distributing food at the exit of fast food restaurants for example.

Seneffe: a man killed by the police following a chase

Imed, 42 and from Seneffe, leaves two orphans aged 4 and 12, owned several apartments and had everything to succeed in life, but the ravages of drugs, as well as several family dramas, have done enormous damage. “I really don’t know how I’m going to be able to announce this to my children. We had only been separated for a few months but we remained on good terms. He might come and see the children whenever he wanted. He didn’t deserve what happened to him.

Four shots

As for the circumstances of the drama, Marylène does not know much more. “All I know is that he was in his vehicle and that he was shot at several times, at least four times. I don’t understand because he was not carrying a weapon. I am sure of it. He may have wanted to run away but he would never have hurt anyone. He wasn’t a bad man otherwise I would never have stayed with him for 26 years.

What Marylène really wants to know are the exact circumstances of the tragedy. “We weren’t told anything directly and we stayed for very long minutes waiting, in the rain, with no news. And when we were confirmed the death of my ex-companion, it was very difficult to cash.

According to our information, the lady who was in the vehicle driven by the victim was not injured.

The prosecution meanwhile, has, at the time of writing these lines, not yet communicated on the circumstances of the tragedy.

The tragedy of Imed’s death is a stark reminder of the damage that drugs and family drama can have on one’s life. Despite his struggles, those who knew him remember him as a kind, helpful man who was taken too soon. Marylène, his ex-girlfriend and mother of his children, is left with many questions regarding the circumstances of his death. We hope that the authorities will provide answers to her and the community soon. Our thoughts are with Imed’s loved ones during this difficult time.
