Arrested since February following having a request for habeas corpus denied by the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre De Moraes, the colonel cited reports

The former head of Operations of the Military Police of the DF, Colonel Jorge Eduardo Naime, said during his testimony at the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry, of his own free will, this Monday followingnoon (26), that the corporation’s operative did not receive information from intelligence and ended up “blinded” on the 8th of January.

Arrested since February following having a request for habeas corpus denied by the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre De Moraes, the colonel cited intelligence reports released by Abin (Brazilian Intelligence Agency) and the WhatsApp groups of the District Public Security Secretariat Federal, including the one created on January 7th.

“Either the intelligence agencies did not pass this on to the secretary [de Segurança] not for the commanding general [da PM]or passed it on to the secretary and general command [da PM], and they were inert, they took no action. Because they had five hours to take action from the moment this group received this information, ”he said.

“And what I find most interesting: they put the subordinate, they put the superior, but they didn’t put the DOP [Departamento Operacional]. So, at that moment, they blinded the entire operating arm”, he added.

Naime also reinforced that the Army prevented the Government of the Federal District (GDF) from finishing with the camp in front of the headquarters, in Brasília. The name of General Gustavo Henrique Dutra, former head of the CMP (Military Command of the Plateau), was mentioned.

“The action of the Military Police in the camp has always been limited by the Armed Forces. We didn’t have that access to enter with the police, to make arrests, to remove street vendors, to be able to make arrests. The Federal Police itself went to try to carry out arrest warrants inside the camp and was rejected by the demonstrators”.

Despite being head of the PM’s Operational Department on January 8, the colonel was off duty. He said that he would combine the so-called “reward leave” with his vacation and that he had not been able to use the benefit before.
