For several months, the health situation in France, as in the other countries of the European Union, has been improving and stabilizing for the long term. Like its European neighbors and in accordance with the will of the legislator, France has therefore begun to operate a return to normal by putting an end to a certain number of exceptional support and response measures, in order to gradually return to the situation before the epidemic.
This is why, faced with the improvement in the health situation and the gradual easing of response measures to the epidemic, the Minister of Health and Prevention has decided to change the screening strategy. As of March 1, 2023, the reimbursement of Covid-19 screening tests is thus approaching the rules for reimbursement under common law.
Support for tests for all policyholders
Before March 1, 2023, RT-PCR and antigen tests were exceptionally covered at 100% by compulsory health insurance, for vaccinated people and without medical prescription.
From March 1, 2023,
- A co-payment will be reintroduced for all RT-PCR and antigenic tests.
- The remaining charge for the insured will be determined according to the healthcare professional delivering the test and will amount to 30% of the cost of the test if it is carried out by a doctor or pharmacist and 40% if it is. by a nurse or a physiotherapist.
- For the vast majority of policyholders who have additional cover, the remainder will be zero. The same is true for beneficiaries of complementary health insurance.
Continuation of the derogatory system of 100% support for the most fragile
In order to continue to protect the most fragile populations who remain the most exposed to severe forms despite the improvement in the health situation, full care is maintained for the following people, as well as for health professionals, and this even in the absence of a prescription:
- Patients with long-term illness (ALD);
- People aged 65 and over;
- Miners;
- Professionals in the medical and medico-social sectors, upon presentation of proof attesting to their status;
- Persons benefiting from an exemption under maternity insurance;
- People undergoing collective screening.
As a reminder, in the event of symptoms of acute respiratory infection, it is recommended to carry out a screening test for Covid-19.
