From July 19 to 21, the Evolution Championship Series 2024 (EVO 2024) will open its doors to kick off the biggest event in the Fighting Games Community (FGC) competitive scene with renowned fighting games such as Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, Guilty Gear -Strive- and more.
In a single weekend, the event will have a prize pool of $250,000 in prizes.
As with every year, even following the event was acquired by Sony in March 2021, EVO has been the epicenter for competitions from FCG and major fighting game developers like Capcom, Bandai Namco, Arc System Works, and more.
For EVO 2024, the participation of more than 15,000 competitors in 8 different disciplines (games) is estimated and these are:
- Street Fighter 6
- Tekken 8
- Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising
- Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Guilty Gear Strive
- The King of Fighters XV
- Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
All EVO 2024 competitions will be broadcast through the YouTube channel of PlayStation Esports.
As if that were not enough, these aforementioned titles will not be the only fighting games present at the event, as attendees will also be able to have a first contact with fighting games that have not yet had an official release, as is the case of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero! from Bandai Namco which is scheduled to arrive on October 11th of this year; and 2XKO, the 2 versus 2 fighting game from Riot Games which has a planned launch window of 2025.
