Evidence of liquid water found underground on Mars – Life & Style

Using data from NASA’s Mars InSight lander on Mars, they have obtained evidence of liquid water below the planet’s surface.

This has been revealed by a new analysis of data from NASA’s Mars Insight lander.

This lander landed on the land of Mars in 2018.

A seismometer was also sent along with the lander, which recorded tremors or earthquakes during four years on Mars.

Analyzing these earthquakes and the motion of the planet revealed that there is water beneath its crust.

Ocean discovery in Saturn’s moon

According to scientists, 3 billion years ago there were lakes and rivers as well as seas on the surface of Mars which gradually disappeared.

It is believed that most of the water disappeared into space, but according to research, this is not the whole story and the water mixed with minerals has reached the subsurface.

Revealing the presence of a huge ocean beneath the Earth’s crust

Experts involved in the research, published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, said that according to their estimates, a large amount of liquid water could be trapped inside the rocks 11 to 20 km below the surface of Mars.

“Although the presence of water on Mars does not prove the presence of life, we do know that life exists deep in the Earth, so there may be some kind of life under the surface of Mars,” he said.
