Evgeni Malkin will test the market

A page of history might be turned at the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday.

Indeed, according to Darren Dregerstriker Evgeni Malkin has decided to test the free agent market and he will be free as air in less than 48 hours.

The 35-year-old Russian center big would like to sign a minimum four-year deal and general manager Ron Hextall wouldn’t give him more than three years, according to The Athletic. He has just completed the final campaign of an eight-year contract worth $9.5 million a year.

In 2021-22, Malkin missed the first half of the season before collecting 42 points in the remaining 41 games.

The number 71 has collected 1146 points in 981 games and has notably won two Art-Ross trophies, awarded to the top scorer in the National Hockey League (NHL).

Note that a special program on the opening of the free agent market will be presented on TVA Sports starting at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
