Everything you need to know about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has garnered industry attention for its exceptional performance, with a 4nm chipset that outperforms even Apple’s current best A16 Bionic in GPU power.

However, Qualcomm is not slowing down, as a new report states that the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will have a GPU that is 50% more powerful than its predecessor.

And the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor can use 50% more powerful GPU.

The leak comes thanks to a prominent digital chatbot revealing on Weibo that the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC will be equipped with a graphics processor that is 50% more powerful than the Adreno 740 processor in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 GPU — presumably codenamed Adreno 750 — should become the new champ in the mobile GPU division, if the report is to be believed.

Previous reports regarding the upcoming chip revealed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 might have a basic 1 + 3 + 2 + 2 configuration, which is slightly different from the 1 + 2 + 2 + 3 split of the 8 Gen 2.

Going into details, the latest chip architecture includes a Cortex-X4 core codenamed Hunter and is called “gold+”.

Moreover, the chip includes two sets of Cortex-A7xx cores, consisting of three “gold” cores and two “titanium” cores.

Two “silver” Cortex-A5xx cores codenamed Hayes provide efficient processing power.

8 Gen 3 may also drop support for 32-bit apps entirely. Finally, reports indicate that the Adreno 750 GPU will be clocked at around 750MHz, which is similar to the current generation Adreno 740 found in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

When will Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 appear?

According to a report by Digital Chat Station, Qualcomm may unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset sooner than expected, as it is already equipped with the processor ahead of schedule.

The report also claims that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 smartphones might hit the market as early as the fourth quarter of this year.
