The two-day tribute of the Patras International Festival to Kostas Tsiatas and Babi Gole, the two great rebetikos of Patras, begins at 9.30 pm on Friday 19 July at the Old Slaughterhouses with the concert for baglama virtuoso and rebetiko lover Kostas Tsiatas.

The concert features a ten-member orchestra consisting of Vivi Apostolatou – singing, Theodora Athanasiou – guitar-singing, Yiannis Gerogiannis – clarinet-tzouras-singing, Sotiris Papatragiannis – baglamas-singing, Aris Spiliotopoulos – bouzouki-singing, Andreas Golfinopoulos – bouzouki-singing d , Yiannis Oikonomou – violin, Yiannis Anagnostopoulos – contrabass, Nikos Forlidas – percussion, Vasilis Zoitopoulos – accordion (program editing-orchestration).

Kostas Tsiatas connected the capital of Achaia and not only with rebetiko and its revival, he connected Patras with baglama, with the interpretation of old folk songs, with the value and importance of democratic struggles.
Innate talent, who was awarded by Simon Karas and collaborated with many of the most important names of rebetiko: Ioannis Tsomidis, Roza Eskenazi, Dimitris Gogo or Bayandera, Keromytis, Spyros Kalfopoulos, Yiannis Moraitis, Ioanna Georgakopoulou, Stavros Xarhakos, George Zambeta, Babis Gole , Giorgos Xintaris, Costas Kalafati, Christos Stylianeas, Giorgos Stamatiou (Sporo), Thanasis Stouraitis, Yiannis Lebesi, Bitagiala, Haik, Giorgos Koros, Iota Nega.

He worked in famous shops in many parts of Greece, but his heart always beat for Patras, creating and contributing to entertainment and discography with the release of the well-known digital record “Sit down and listen to a penny”.

The heart of the Rebetiko will continue to beat in the Old Slaughterhouses of Patras on Saturday, July 20, with a tribute concert to the great paternal Rebet, Babi Gole.
The tribute features a six-member band made up of Giorgos Griziotis – three-string bouzouki, vocals, Spyros Delegos – guitar, vocals, Andreas Stamatopoulos – accordion, vocals, Dimitris Sarris – baglama, vocals, Andriana Tsagaris – vocals, Senich Undeger – violin.

Babis Goles, born in Tabachana, Patras, is one of the most recognizable musical personalities of the revival of rebetiko song during the post-political period. With numerous performances from the mid-1960s and a series of records from 1982 onwards, Goles marked a new era for rebetiko, nurturing generations of musicians in the genre and attracting the general public to the musical world of the gramophone.

The musical editing belongs to Spyros Delegos and Giorgos Griziotis.

The tribute is a sign of honor from the municipality of Patras and the International Festival to the two rebetes for their contribution to the singing and cultural events of the region.
