Everything is clear. Hurkacz announced his decision to take part in the games

Exactly a week ago, Hubert Hurkacz underwent knee surgery. Let us recall that he sustained an injury during Wimbledon and his participation in the Olympic Games in Paris was questionable. – We use equipment, at every stage Hubert is tested, checked. If he gains the appropriate level of strength and form from before the injury, he can play in the Olympic tournament – the doctor who performed the surgery recently told Sport.pl.

Hubert Hurkacz is not going to Paris. Officially

On Monday, it became clear what will happen to Hurkacz’s appearance at the games. The Polish tennis player delivered the terrible news. – I would like to thank you for all your wonderful messages and support that I receive from you. It means a lot to me. The rehabilitation is going very well. However, we have made a decision with the team that I am not able to play at the Olympic Games in Paris – he said in a video published on Instagram.

– It was a very, very difficult decision because I dreamed of representing Poland at the Olympics and being able to win a medal for the team, but unfortunately my health will not allow me to do so this year – added the 27-year-old.

Hurkacz revealed that he intends to support other Polish athletes. “Of course I will watch the games and support the entire Polish team. I wish them as many medals as possible,” he concluded.

In view of Hubert Hurkacz’s absence, it is not known what will happen to Iga Świątek’s performance in the mixed doubles. The world ranking leader was supposed to play with Hurkacz. The decision will probably be made in the nearest future. The games will start on Friday, July 26, when the opening ceremony will take place on the Seine.
