After already making a dramatic start, the second weekend may be even worse. Joker: Folie à Deux raised just $7.1 million in North America. Noted in 2009 Joker another impressive $55.9 million in its second weekend.

The turnover of Joker: Folie à Deux fell by as much as 81.3 percent in the States, a decline in sales that rarely occurs with such major releases. And that is very unfortunate after the acclaimed first film.

Third Terrifier
Terrifier 3 performed excellently. With a production budget of just $2 million, it made $18.3 million in the US. The second part grossed $15.7 million worldwide over its entire theatrical run in 2022.

Another notable newcomer is the strongly received new LEGO film, a creative biopic about singer-songwriter Pharrell Williams. Turnover was disappointing: $3.8 million. On the other hand, there is a relatively limited production budget of $18 million.

Box Office Roundup: What’s Up with Joker?

Ah, the box office—a realm where dreams are made or broken, and where Joker: Folie à Deux has made quite the splash… or should I say a belly flop? After coming out swinging, the film has *dramatically* plummeted like a lead balloon! It’s like watching your hopes for that night out turn into an awkward, stubbed toe on the dance floor.

Joker: Folie à Deux—From Hero to Zero

In its second weekend, Joker: Folie à Deux raked in a mere $7.1 million. For comparison, the original Joker had strutted its stuff with a staggering $55.9 million during the same timeframe in 2009. That’s a decline of 81.3%—and not just any decline; this is the type that makes you want to hide under the sofa like a teenager trying to ignore their parents’ “talking about your future” speech.

To put it bluntly: how can a film like this, with all the critical acclaim and hype, fall faster than my self-esteem during a bad haircut? One theory is that maybe, just maybe, audiences weren’t ready for a musical **(yes, you heard me right)** and preferred their dose of chaos wrapped in a bit less… singing, possibly? Nothing like murder in 4/4 time to sour your popcorn, eh?

Terrifier 3: A Horror Show Success

On the other side of the cinematic coin, we have Terrifier 3. This little horror flick with a production budget of just $2 million has clawed its way to a remarkable **$18.3 million** in its opening weekend! That’s right, while the Joker was busy face-palming, Art the Clown was busy raking it in! A stellar success, especially when you consider that its predecessor made only $15.7 million during its entire run. Talk about a glow-up! In the end, it seems like the real horror is the idea of having to sit through that Joker sequel for a second time.

LEGO Film: A Disappointment?

And then there’s the LEGO film focused on our buddy Pharrell Williams—who apparently conjured up some serious box office magic, but still managed just $3.8 million. With a production budget of $18 million, we can only assume the accountants at LEGO are crying in their plastic bricks right about now. A biopic about a musical genius and yet—ouch— bucketed next to *Terrifier*. I guess when life hands you lemons, you build a LEGO mansion to sit atop that disappointment.

So grab your popcorn, curl up on your couch, and enjoy the chaotic ride, folks—because it looks like the film industry is in need of a good laugh… or perhaps a good scare!

Stay tuned, and let’s see what next week will bring. Will Joker find its footing, or are we off to another horror triumph? Who knows—I’ve got my bets on the clown with the axe. Cheers!
