Vincent Kriechmayr: “I’m glad I left the toughest race behind me! I’m really happy, I rode well and pushed from top to bottom. The Stelvio is always difficult, maybe it was a bit easier last year because it was so icy today, but it’s fantastic to give 100% to the end. I felt like I might win? There are so many athletes who deserve it, you can never be sure when you reach the finish line.”
James Crawford: “I was a bit nervous at the start, not very confident because I felt a little pressure following yesterday’s practice, which was one of the toughest of my career. Today I had a good feeling for the track and I’m happy with how I rode the Stelvio. Of course there is still a lot to do. The Stelvio is wonderful, it’s one of my favorite races because it always scares me a bit. You’re pushing from the top down and struggling to keep your feet on the ground.”
Aleksander Aamodt Source: “The Stelvio is always tough, both mentally and physically. It is one of the toughest routes in the Ski World Cup. I did my best and a third place is fantastic, I’m glad it happened here in Bormio. My secret? I don’t have one, hard work pays off. I’m trying to adapt to the tasks, stay healthy and keep working”.
Mattia Casse: “These three days are tough, the Stelvio is demanding but also beautiful. This slope is getting harder and harder, but over the years it’s getting nicer. And that’s how we want it to be. Today I might have accelerated a little more, both in Carcentina and in the middle section. Now let’s look to Wengen. Tomorrow is Super G day. Another day, another story. After 3 days like this, it’s going to be a hard Super-G”.
Dominik Paris: “I made too many mistakes in the middle and at the end. The Stelvio is tough, you burn out halfway, but you have to persevere… It was a difficult race. I’m glad that I scored important points for the general classification. You are not given anything for free, I keep working… let’s hope good results will come soon.”
