Every second thinks about an apprenticeship

2023-04-23 06:10:00

This is the result of a study by the Linz market researcher Imas on behalf of the “Future Teaching Austria” (ZLÖ) initiative and the Institute for Labor Research. “Teaching must not be perceived as an educational dead end,” said Robert Machtlinger, ZLÖ President and CEO of the Innviertler aircraft supplier FACC, at a press conference in Vienna this week. The value in the public perception has decreased significantly in the past decades – and this despite the well-founded professional training. A ray of hope: every second person assumes that the importance of completing an apprenticeship will increase in the future.

The importance of teaching must be put back in the right light. Around half of the 1009 respondents stated that they had dealt with the concept of teaching “intensively” or “rather intensively” before choosing their career.

“Very” and “rather” in favor of an apprenticeship were the respondents’ own income (93 percent) and self-employment (92 percent). The bad way in which apprentices are treated (58 percent) and the better advancement that other school types enable (58 percent) speak once morest such training.
