This is shown by a report from the National Police, which TV 2 has obtained access to.
At the top of the list are Poles, Lithuanians and Romanians.
The figures are drawn from 1 April 2021, when the law on reckless driving came into force, until 7 October this year.
The country’s police circles have raised charges for reckless driving 3,965 times during the period.
Of these, 1,115 charges have been brought against foreign nationals – and in particular Eastern Europeans.
In the top five are Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Romania, Ukraine and Latvia. 249 Poles have been charged during the period.
During the period, the police charged 42 people from Syria and 40 people from Turkey.
However, it is still Danish citizens who are most targeted. About three quarters of those charged are Danish citizens.
Police assistant at the National Police Christian Berthelsen says that the police do not know whether these are foreign nationals living in Denmark.
But visiting foreigners might be surprised if the car is taken from them.
– I don’t think that there are that many people who familiarize themselves with the legislation when they come to drive through. It depends on how people’s “mindset” is, he tells TV 2.
Crazy driving or crazy driving is broadly defined. This covers, among other things, driving at a speed of at least 200 kilometers per hour or drink-driving with a blood alcohol level above 2.00.
This also applies to negligent homicide under particularly aggravating circumstances, or if you show particularly reckless driving.
In all these cases, the police can impound the car used for the spree, regardless of who the owner is.
Drunk driving accounts for two out of three charges for reckless driving since 2021, according to TV 2, figures from the National Police show.
Nine out of ten reckless driving charges are against men.
