When Everton and Tottenham Hotspur face off, it’s more than just a football match—it’s a clash steeped in history, statistics, and narratives that keep fans on the edge of their seats. From dramatic draws to record-breaking performances, this fixture has it all. Let’s explore the fascinating dynamics of this Premier League rivalry.
A Rocky Road for Everton
Everton’s recent record against Tottenham has been far from encouraging. The Toffees have managed just one win in their last 24 Premier League encounters with spurs,a narrow 1-0 victory in September 2020. as than, they’ve struggled to find their footing, with 11 draws and 12 losses in that period. Adding to their woes, Everton have failed to score in their last three league games, a drought they haven’t experienced since February/march 2022.
Since November, Everton have been the Premier League’s lowest scorers, netting just five goals in 11 matches. Interestingly, two of those goals came courtesy of Craig Dawson’s own goals in a 4-0 win over Wolves. This season, they’ve failed to score in 12 games, a feat matched by only three other teams in Premier League history: Norwich (2021-22), Southampton (2003-04), and Derby (2007-08).
Tottenham’s Dominance on the Road
While Everton have struggled, Tottenham have enjoyed a solid run of form in away games against the Toffees.Spurs are unbeaten in their last 11 Premier League visits to Goodison Park, though they’ve only secured three wins amidst eight draws. They’re now aiming to complete the league double over Everton for the first time since the 2017-18 season.
Though, Tottenham’s record under Ange Postecoglou isn’t without its flaws. Despite scoring first in 31 Premier League games, they’ve lost eight of those matches—a 26% loss rate, the highest of any permanent Spurs manager. Yet, Postecoglou’s tenure has been far from dull. His matches average 3.6 goals per game, the highest among managers with at least 50 Premier League games under their belt. In 59 matches, his Spurs side has racked up 210 goals (117 for,93 against).
The Most Drawn Fixture in Premier League History
everton vs Tottenham at Goodison Park holds a unique distinction: it’s the most drawn fixture in Premier League history. Of their 32 meetings, 17 have ended in a stalemate. The last five encounters have all been draws, setting a record that no other fixture has achieved in the competition’s history.
Key Players and Managers
Tottenham’s captain Son Heung-Min has been a thorn in Everton’s side, contributing to 10 goals in just 12 premier League starts against the Toffees—scoring seven and assisting three. His ability to consistently deliver in this fixture makes him a player to watch.
On the managerial front, Everton’s returning boss David Moyes has a notable record against Tottenham. Last season, he led West Ham to a 2-1 victory over Spurs, becoming the first manager to defeat Postecoglou with two different teams since Takahiro Shimotaira achieved the feat in the Japanese J1 League.
A Challenging Start to 2025
Both teams have stumbled into 2025, each losing their first two Premier League matches of the year. Everton have lost their first three league games in a calendar year six times before, most recently in 2022 and 2023. Tottenham, on the other hand, have only done so twice in their history—back-to-back in 1993 and 1994.
What’s Next?
As Everton and Tottenham prepare for their next showdown, the stakes are high. Will Everton break their scoring drought and turn their fortunes around? Can Tottenham maintain their dominance and secure another win? One thing’s without a doubt: this fixture never fails to deliver drama.

Archyde News: Everton’s recent record against Spurs has been less than ideal, with just one win in the last 24 Premier League meetings. What do you think has been the biggest challenge for Everton in this fixture?
Tim Cahill: Football is a game of confidence, and when you’re on a run like that,it can weigh heavily on the players.tottenham has been a strong side in recent years, and Everton have struggled to find consistency, especially in the final third. The lack of goals has been a major issue—failing to score in the last three league games is a stat that no team wants to see.
Archyde News: Speaking of goals,Everton has been the Premier league’s lowest scorer since November. What needs to change to turn this around?
Tim Cahill: It’s about belief and creating opportunities. Everton have had some luminous moments, but they need to be more clinical in front of goal. The midfield and attack need to work in unison, and the manager has to find the right combination of players who can deliver. It’s also about mentality—staying positive and taking those chances when they come.

Evertonians are some of the most passionate supporters in the world, and the players owe it to them to give everything on the pitch.
Archyde News: what’s your prediction for the next Everton vs Tottenham clash?
