Mezzo-soprano Angelika Kirchschlager and satirist Alfred Dorfer invite you to an amusing evening of songs. The title is: “Death of a Poodle”. The program, presented by Kirchschlager for the first time in 2018, was commissioned by the Wiener Konzerthaus for the series “Classic meets comedy”. The pastiche full of humor in classical music was developed with the classical-affine cabaret artist Alfred Dorfer. Because primarily it is regarding the comedy in the classical period. Especially the involuntary ones. He wants to understand all of this. And who would be more suitable to bring him closer to the subject than she, the grandiose singer? The result: A ghost train ride through the strange background of the industry. Between Dorfer and Kirchschlager there is a wonderful ping-pong of anecdotes from both genres in this satirical evening of songs. In addition to Beethoven’s eponymous work “Elegie on the Death of a Poodle”, the program includes Schumann, Schubert, Bizet, Mahler, Korngold, Brahms and others. Julius Drake accompanies with virtuosity on the piano.
