Event series, “The Last of Us” arrives on RTS at the end of February

Post-apocalyptic adventure thriller from the famous video game, “The Last of Us” has been a hit since its launch in mid-January. Currently inaccessible from French-speaking Switzerland, the series can be viewed from February 20 on RTS.

Ten years following the hugely successful video game, “The Last of Us” is being adapted into a series by Neil Druckmann, one of the game’s creators, and director Craig Mazin (“Chernobyl”). The story is faithful to the original from the Naughty Dog studio and follows the duo formed by Joel, a trafficker broken by tragedy, and Ellie, the teenager he must protect, the last hope of a world almost destroyed by a virus. and in which the zombies are rampant.

The nine episodes take place in a post-apocalyptic America, locked down by a military dictatorship. Joel and Ellie are played by Pedro Pascal, shock policeman from the “Narcos” series, who also starred in “Game of Thrones” and “The Mandalorian”, and Bella Ramsey (“Game of Thrones”).

First rave reviews

Posted on January 15 in the United States by HBO, the first episodes of “The Last of Us” broke the channel’s records by obtaining the strongest audience growth between the first and second weeks. Reviews are rave reviews and the series has a 97% rating on review aggregator “Rotten Tomatoes”. The success is there and a second season has just been confirmed.

Crystel di Marzo, series critic for Couleur 3 who watched the first two episodes, confirms the success of “The Last of Us”: “In a few scenes, the series proves that it is more than an adaptation. It is a work in its own right and it convinces quickly”. Critics were also blown away by the post-apocalyptic settings which are “sublime” and by the tension, palpable in each scene, which makes the first episodes “very anxiety-inducing.” As for the duo between Joel and Ellie, “it works very well”.

The RTS managed to negotiate the rights to this series, which is currently inaccessible from French-speaking Switzerland. Three episodes will air on Monday, February 20, then two a week until Monday, March 13. The final episode of the first season will therefore be broadcast just 24 hours following the United States.
